'Prayer Death' ruling expected Wednesday

UNDATED (WSAU) The State Supreme Court will issue a ruling in the Weston 'prayer parents' case. Dale and Leilani Neumann opted to pray over their sick 11-year-old daughter instead of seeking medical care. Kara Neumann died from a treatable case of juvenile diabetes in 2009. Both of her parents were convicted of second-degree manslaughter.

Wisconsin has a faith healing law, where people can turn down medical care in favor of prayer. The court ruling will decide whether the law applies to children, or whether parents have an obligation to seek medical help for their kids.

An appeals court didn't rule in the case, and sent the matter directly to the supreme court, which heard oral arguments last December.
