WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wausau residents able to let city officials know how they feel about neighborhood blight issues. The city has been receiving surveys from residents. Finance Director Maryanne Grote says they mailed the surveys to a random sample of residents, but any Wausau resident can participate online. “they can even respond to the survey, even though they weren’t included in the random sample. They could complete the survey online.” The survey is available at the City of Wausau’s home page in the bottom right corner.
Grote says they’ve been getting some back, but there are quite a few that have not yet been returned. She’s hoping to compile the results of the survey for the City Council’s August meeting. “I would say in the next three weeks, maybe. We hope to have something put together by August first for sure.”
The Director says the survey asks several questions, allowing residents to both answer questions and share their opinions. “I think it’s a great opportunity for people to weigh in on the residential neighborhoods of the city, what they like best, what are some areas of improvement, in particular those things that concern citizens about blight and decline in the neighborhoods.”
Wausau has been aggressively working to remove blighted property problems with the help of several state programs, the removal of older buildings that are in poor repair, and assisting in new development where possible.
